2024 Power Summit

Day 1: Sunday, February 4th

The 2024 Power Summit began with a warm welcome as attendees arrived at the beautiful Ocean Reef Resort. As attendees arrived, they were greeted with the resort’s signature “Reef Cup.” As the evening approached, attendees gathered for the Grand Opening Reception sponsored by SmartestEnergy at the Carysfort Kitchen. The interactive “reef” style cooking class was guided by expert chefs and allowed participants to engage with fellow attendees in a fun and casual setting, marking a perfect start to the summit.

Day 2: Monday, February 5th

The day began with a breakfast on the Everglades Patio before the first official session of the summit. Opening Remarks were given by Power Summit Founder, Shannon McGriff, followed by a sponsor message from Jeff Colvin, Executive Vice President of Shell Energy. The first Keynote Presentation, delivered by former FERC Chairman Neil Chatterjee, titled Powering the Future: Insights from a Former FERC Chairman, offered invaluable insights into the current regulatory landscape and future energy policies. The Powering Tomorrow: The Energy Storage Evolution panel discussed the rapid advancements in energy storage technology, with panelists from leading energy companies offering insights into the market dynamics, global trends, and the future of grid resilience. Mario Loyola and Neil Chatterjee explored The IRA’s Impact on Future Energy Policies, providing attendees with key takeaways on how the Inflation Reduction Act is shaping future policies across the energy sector. This session set the stage for deeper discussions throughout the day. The morning concluded with a great panel discussion on The Energy Dilemma: Balancing Reliability, Affordability, Resiliency, and Sustainability, where industry experts examined how extreme weather events, market rules, and other factors are influencing the future of the energy grid. After a brief Closing Remarks by Ananda Goswami, attendees enjoyed a leisurely lunch, with several executive networking options in the afternoon, including golf, fishing, spa services, and water activities. These activities allowed participants to connect outside of formal sessions, fostering deeper professional relationships. The day ended with a Sunset Cocktail Hour sponsored by Amperon at The Point. Attendees enjoyed a relaxed evening of networking while taking in stunning sunset views, a perfect wind-down to an informative and engaging day.

Day 3: Tuesday, February 6th

The final day of the summit began with a breakfast on the Everglades Patio, offering one last opportunity for casual conversation before diving into the day’s sessions. Opening Remarks from Shannon McGriff and Kimberly Carpenter, Senior Director of Marketing & Customer Experience at NRG, set the tone for the day, followed by a Keynote Presentation from Robert Gaudette, Executive Vice President at NRG Business. Gaudette’s insights into energy markets, mergers, and future innovations were highly anticipated and well received. The panel on Executive Outlook: Perspectives on Mergers, Markets, and Innovation provided valuable perspectives from industry leaders on the future of energy, giving attendees a deep dive into the opportunities and challenges surrounding large-scale energy transactions and market evolution. The morning’s final panel, Industry Insights from Decision Makers, explored the complexities of energy procurement from the perspective of large energy users, touching on topics such as load projections, budgeting concerns, and ESG goals. The Executive Sessions in the afternoon offered attendees a more interactive format, with three focused discussions on Customer Engagement Strategies, De-Risking the Electric Vehicle Journey, and Protecting Consumer Choice. These sessions were designed to foster dialogue among participants and generate actionable insights on key industry challenges. The summit concluded with a beachside Power Summit Soiree at Marlin Lagoon, combining networking, dinner, drinks, and live music in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, leaving attendees with lasting connections and insights to take back to their organizations.
